POLITICIANS finally came face-to-face with a weapon of mass destruction - in the shape of a Dalek.
A York cake shop has baked a tasty political image that will grab the vote of anyone disillusioned with the five-week General Election campaign.
Imaginative Icing, Lendal, designed this light-hearted scene showing the three main party leaders confronted by a legendary Dr Who villain.
The Dalek's famous catchphrase is "exterminate, exterminate".
Tony Blair, Michael Howard and Charles Kennedy will be hoping their policies have helped destroy voter apathy in equally lethal fashion - so people in York, North and East Yorkshire flock to the ballot box in their droves today.
Shop owner Janice Springall, whose son Anthony designed the fruit cake creation, said: "Quite a few people have had a bit of a chuckle over it.
"I just hope it makes some people smile."
