I CAN see arguments for and against Monks Cross II. What I am certain of is that the PR battle will be dirty.
When you’re promoting a development such as Monks Cross II, you make sure the local paper gets at least one letter in favour of the development every day, creating the impression there’s huge support for it.
For all I know Benjamin Fellows, of Brighton Grove, Manchester (Letters, November 26) may be a Mancunian whose unusual hobby is supporting out of town developments in cities he doesn’t live anywhere near.
However, I think it would be helpful for anyone writing about Monks Cross II to set out their connection to York. It might stop cynical people like me from wondering about their motives.
James Richards, Scarcroft Road, York.
