PUPILS at a York school have celebrated the official opening of their new outdoor classroom.
The new facility was opened at Copmanthorpe Primary School by Judith Ward, allotments officer from City of York Council, and the children are already looking forward to using the classroom.
Judith Rigg, head teacher, said: “It’s taken about two years and cost about £2,000 to £3,000 to build. We would like to thank the friends of the school for raising so much money for us, and the parish council who provided us with the ampitheatre seating. We’ll still be using it throughout the next few months for science and music classes. The children have said they’ll enjoy the fresh air while learning – even if it’s wet.”
