A MAN has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a car overturned on a road in York.
The black Vauxhall Vectra hit a large tree in Corban Lane, Wigginton, at about 8.30pm last night. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
North Yorkshire Police said the car was heading towards Wigginton and the A19 and came off the road on a left-hand bend before rebounding onto Corban lane after colliding with the tree.
The injured driver, who was the only person in the Vectra, was cut out of the car by firefighters and taken to York Hospital with serious injuries. The road was closed for about four hours afterwards as police carried out an investigation of the scene.
Anybody who saw the crash or the Vectra before it came off the road should phone Traffic Constable Zoe Billings at the Tadcaster road policing group on 0845 6060 247.
