NINE wins from 13 junior events were among York City Rowing Club's highlights en route to becoming the most successful club at the Bradford Autumn regatta.

The Ouse-based club earned the prestigious Victor Ludorum at the picturesque Shipley course.

On top of the junior whitewash, Alex Gilchrist also picked up a win in the veteran sculls to help the club push Merchant Taylor's School of Liverpool into second place.

Iona Harrap had two close Junior 14 sculls races and won both by a few feet, teaming up with Rebecca Turley to win the Women's under-14 double sculls.

In her third event, she was joined by Louisa Hood to take the women's U18 double sculls easily.

Meanwhile, Turley and Hood went on to win the Women's novice coxed quads with Kezia Buckley and Lauren Hennessy, pushed hard all the way by cox Alice Hood.

Tom Korebejko won his first single sculling event in fine style winning by five lengths in the U16 category. He was later joined by Chris Wright to win the U16 double sculls.

Seasoned perfomer James Reeder picked up his tenth regatta win of the year in U15 sculls, winning each of his three races confidently.

Owen Harrison joined him in the U15 doubles and, after a lay-off since their fourth place at the National Championships this summer, they won their event at a canter to record Harrison's seventh regatta win this season.

In the last event, Reeder and Harrison were joined by Joe Feeney, Nick Bartlett and cox Alice Hood to easily win the coxed quads.

Several seniors were in action at the 31-mile Boston Rowing Marathon.

There were wins for Richard Smallman-Smith in Veteran 'A' single sculls, Dick Gradley in Veteran 'H' single sculls with second place for George Scott in S2 single sculls.

Becky Raines and Cath Smith beat the course record in the S2 double sculls but were then pushed into second place.

There was a second place also for Dan Beaumont and Liz Chaytor in the S4 mixed double sculls.

The Men's novice 4+ rowed the course in 4hours 38 minutes 40 seconds - but there was no opposition.

All sections of the club will be on home waters today at the York Sprint Regatta from 10.30am. It will be the last regatta of the year before head racing kicks off.
