YORK RUFC Under-15s have cleaned up in a competition to win a brand new strip – and are now seeking the chance to train with Martin Johnson’s England side.

As reported in The Press earlier this year, junior rugby union teams were invited to enter a competition in which the ultimate prize, being offered by AEG, was one of several training days with Johnson and co.

And York U15s are among 50 teams nationwide who have won one of the early rounds which sees them collect a new Samurai strip, as well as a washing machine and tumble drier.

As part of their entry, they had to say why they deserved the £2,000 kit and laundry package and sent in a picture of the team covered in mud.

In a bid to beat the other 49 victors to the top prize, the team have now sent in a photo of them in their new kit, which they designed themselves. They are pictured, right, in this new strip.

Other potential prizes to come include training sessions at Twickenham with ex-England stars Austin Healey and Will Greenwood, or at their own ground with more aces from the Red Rose ranks, and a coaching holiday in a top resort in Sardinia.

Local supporters can vote for the York lads to win by clicking on the final 50 tab at www.aeg.co.uk/grassroots before December 5.
