A TALENTED York musician was set to go before the judges of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent today as he tries to win his way through to the next round.

Stuart Niven, of Clifton Moor, is so confident of his skills on the synthesiser that he has travelled to Manchester where he will appear infront a live audience and the formidable panel of judges.

The 51-year-old, who describes himself as a “Euro-trance” musician, creates his music using a keyboard synthesiser.

He said: “What I am hoping to impress the judges with is that I play the syntehsiser manually. I don’t use a computer.

“I do bass and rythm all at the same time.”

Mr Niven said he used to be a keen musician in the 1908s, finding inspiration from the new wave of electronic groups such as The Human League and Depeche Mode, however he gave up, before recently returing to his love.

“I had a period of not playing,” he said. “But then a friend bought me a little Casio keyboard and and I just got playing again and I have kept moving onwards and upwards. I can make the synthesiser come alive.

“I don’t class it as a hobby becuase I have spent serious money on this.”

He said when he takes the stage at Manchester he hopes to be recognised for his talent and get the opportunity to further his musical career, including producing film scores.

The next series of Britain’s Got talent will be screened in April.
