A SELBY woman has celebrated her 100th birthday.

Kathleen Ann Buttle was born into a farming family at Ellerton Common before her family moved to Southend Farm in Breighton when she was eight years old.

She farmed at South End Farm for many years with her family before her retirement in 1971.

Her nephews then took over the farming side while she has enjoyed a long and happy retirement.

Kathleen is fondly known to many residents of Breighton as Aunty Kate.

Kathleen received a congratulatory card from the Queen and a celebration party was held at Bubwith Leisure Centre for her family and friends.”
