ANGLERS will converge on York on Sunday for the York and District Amalgamation of Anglers Championship of the Yorkshire Ouse.

The contest will be held on all waters above York, except Widdrington, with the draw scheduled for St Clement’s Working Men’s Club at 8.30am.

The following Sunday – November 6 – the Amalgamation stage the Tower Trophy on the following waters below York, Donkey Woods, Fulford and Palace Ings.

The draw for the Trophy will again be held at St Clement’s WMC at 8.30am.

Meanwhile, prolific Pete Webster completed a hat-trick of Shepherd Angling Club match wins to secure the Aggregate Points Trophy with one match remaining.

Webster won from peg two on the Donkey Woods stretch of the River Ouse below York with a haul of 3lbs 14oz.

Members reported that the river was in good condition, if a little clear, and the weights were made up almost exclusively of small roach with the occasional perch. Bream were noticeably absent.
