POLICE have released an image of a man wanted in connection with an assault in which a Selby man had his eye socket and jaw broken.

The incident took place on Saturday, September 15, outside the taxi rank in James Street at about 1.25am, when a 24-year-old man was attacked, then continued after a brief chase, behind Boots.

North Yorkshire Police said the victim had since undergone two operations to insert a metal plate and plastic into his face to repair the injuries.

After looking at CCTV footage from the area, officers have released these images of a man they believe is responsible for the assault.

It is believed the suspect left Kans nightclub five minutes before the incident and crossed the road to where the victim was standing with his girlfriend, then carried out the attack after insulting the victim’s girlfriend and made off in the direction of New Lane.

The suspect is described as between 5ft 10in and 6ft 2in tall, in his 30s, with a stocky build and dark spiky hair, wearing dark-coloured Ralph Lauren polo shirt, smart jeans and smart shoes.
