SOLDIERS and Spiderman were among the characters at a school near York when children were challenged to dress as their heroes.
The fundraising day at Kirk Hammerton CE Primary School was in aid of Help for Heroes, and inspired the pupils to think hard about their costumes.
Jenni Kirkwood, who works at the school, said it was the children’s idea and everyone joined in, with people dressed as nurses, soldiers and superheroes making the school feel “extra safe” for the day.
She said: “It was a lovely thing to see people dressed as their grandparents, brothers and sisters and uncles in Afghanistan.
“The children really did think hard about this.”
Help for Heroes is a charity formed to help those who have been wounded in Britain’s current conflicts.
