Brian Page sets off on country roads to find some fine village properties to rent.

THIS week we’re looking at village properties to rent around the York area.

We’ll start at the delightful village of Alne where Linley and Simpson have Holly Bank, a substantial five bedroomed detached house in Main Street. This period property has been sympathetically restored but still retains many original character features.

It has two front reception rooms, a fully fitted modern kitchen leading through to an open plan dining room and family room (with a lovely wood-burning stove and French doors to the garden). There’s also a study, ground floor cloakroom and utility room. There are two double bedrooms, a single bedroom and a large family bathroom to the first floor and a double bedroom, single bedroom and shower room to the second floor. The house is wrapped in mature landscaped gardens. A lot of house and home for the money… it is offered at £1,500pcm.

The delightfully-named Regor is a large detached bungalow just off Malton Road (on the A64) a good choice for those who like rural living but want to be handy for town.

The property offers a smart lounge, fitted dining kitchen and a conservatory.

There are three double bedrooms and a refitted bathroom. This one is offered by Stephensons at £750pcm.

Quantum, meanwhile, offer a detached house in Calder Avenue, a quiet cul-de-sac in Poppleton.

Freshly decorated throughout, this home offers a lounge, dining kitchen and ground floor cloaks with two double bedrooms, one single and a house bathroom.

Gardens front and back and a garage complete the package. The rental here is £720pcm.

Staying in Poppleton, Letters Ltd have a delightful first floor apartment in Villa Court, a handy spot with semi-rural views. There is a spacious reception room with dual aspect windows, a kitchen diner with fittings including a gas hob and electric oven, fridge/freezer and washing machine and two double bedrooms and a modern bathroom with shower.

Communal gardens and an allocated parking space included in the rental of £625pcm.

And last but definitely not least we have a cracking property on the books of Arena Letting. It is Sandal House in Main Street, Heslington, a super detached family house in a quiet country lane. Refurbished throughout (including new carpets, new décor and new bathroom) highlights include a spacious through dining/ sitting room running across the whole of the rear of the property, looking out over the rear garden and open views beyond. There’s also a good-sized fitted kitchen. To the first floor are two double bedrooms and a large single bedroom and newly fitted spacious bathroom with separate shower cubicle. There’s a driveway and garden to the front while the large lawned garden and patio area at the back have great open views.

The rental is £995pcm.
