Yorkshire Over-60s got their Liberty Trophy season off to a great start.

They downed Durham – last year’s beaten finalists – 135-115 picking up 16 points to Durham’s ten.

The conquest was effectively down to the away rinks as only one team won at the home venue of Featherstone.

That was Tony Horobin’s rink, who won 19-17.

The rinks led by Eddie Howcroft and Dave Colebourne, went down 24-11 and 26-25 respectively.

Ralph Tiplady’s away team at Darlington won 30-7 and Graham Brooke’s 29-19 though Bill Peirson’s rink perished 22-21.

Yorkshire are awaiting the result of the Lancashire against Durham game to be played next month before knowing what they need to do to progress to the play-offs in December.
