A FOOTBALL manager involved in an incident at a York City match, in which two stewards were injured, is to appear before court.

Luton Town boss Gary Brabin will face two charges of assault and one charge of using threatening words or behaviour when he appears before Selby Magistrates' Court next month.

North Yorkshire Police have summoned Mr Brabin to court following an investigation into an incident during York City's 1-0 victory on Tuesday, April 19.

One steward broke a finger and another was apparently elbowed during the match. The referee ordered the Luton boss away from his dugout just before half-time, and he was accompanied to the main stand by stewards.

A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said: "Police investigating allegations of assault at Bootham Crescent football ground on April 19, have summonsed a 40-year-old man from Milton Keynes to appear in court.”
