THOUSANDS of residents living within a five-mile radius of a top private school near York are being invited to have the flu jab for free.
More than 2,500 people living in and around Queen Ethelburga’s College at Thorpe Underwood are being offered the vaccination at the school’s medical centre.
The initiative is part of the campus’ annual drive to keep the area “flu free”. All 1,122 pupils and their relatives, 750 estate workers and their families and even casual visitors can also take up the offer.
Principal Steven Jandrell said it might seem like a huge undertaking, ‘but it follows our ethos of caring and looking after each other and our visitors.’ The flu vaccination initiative will be held on November 3 and 10 from 9.30am to 2.30pm.
