A TEENAGER from York will be getting a special birthday present this weekend after his father won a competition run by The Press.

Robert Acomb, from Clifton, scooped the prize of a new moped worth £1,000, courtesy of York-based Pedpit Ltd, which will now be given to his son Elliot when he marks his 16th birthday on Saturday.

Ellliot plans to use the Wk One 50cc model to travel to and from York College, where he intends to study after finishing his exams at Manor School next year.

His father won the vehicle after collecting eight tokens which were printed in The Press earlier this month.

“Elliot will need some transport to get to and from the college, so this will be perfect for him, especially with the cost of public transport,” said Robert, 46.

Pedpit Ltd is a family-run business in Nether Poppleton which stocks scooters, bikes and quads from distributors such as Lambretta and Peugeot. The company can be contacted by phoning 01904 799966.
