I READ, with some amazement, the letter from Dr Shikha Chandak “Limit the lorries” (Letters, October 13).
I must point out to Dr Chandak that on single-carriageway A-class roads that the speed limit for HGVs is 40mph.
Supermarket vehicles stick rigidly to this or receive a severe reprimand from their employers. Accidents are caused by impatient drivers, not by drivers obeying the law.
If Dr Chandak is frustrated by this, I would point out that there is an excellent train service from Middlesbrough to York.
