THE attitude of the England football teams seems to reflect in some ways the attitude of the country at large.

When England won the World Cup in 1966, they were on low wages but put every drop of motive energy into their efforts.

Now the team is paid immoral amounts of money and pampered. With the churning of global populations, we now have too many different factions in the country, all pulling in different directions and incapable of exerting a popular will.

In the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, everyone understood the benefits which their efforts resulted in. Now they are disillusioned and perplexed.
