First among errors I HAVE just received a circular from First Bus and I can only presume it was sent by mistake. In the circular, it talks about regular and reliable services; in my area we don’t have either, we have the No 16 service.

This service is often late, sometimes so late that the driver waits at the Cedar Court Hotel in Station Rise, misses a run out and picks up the next timetable departure – not much good for people waiting at the stops en route.

It also mentions you can plan your journey on the website or even look them up on your mobile phone; these only give the timetable information, not what is happening on the ground.

Late-night shopping is also mentioned: our last service from town is 18.05pm, so not much chance of late shopping there. It also mentions having a fun day out with the kids, letting them plan the route. Looking at our timetable, I think the children at First Bus are already involved in the planning.

On the back page it offers a chance of winning freebies every time you board a First bus. We don’t want freebies all we want is a decent reliable bus service.
