TWO cheques for £1,500 each have been presented to Help For Heroes and Forces Childrens Trust charities from St Oswald’s CE Primary School.

The cheques were from money raised at the school’s fun day held in May. The event featured stalls, a bouncy castle and cafés as well as Gurkha dancing, an Army communications display and Nepalese cooking.

The school gives its support to a different charity each year.

Head teacher Rupert Griffiths said: “A number of the children at our school were from Gurkha forces’ families and so we wanted to choose a charity that was significant to our pupils.”
