UNLUCKY City of York Hockey Club Ladies I were toppled 1-0 at home by Wakefield in division one of the North League.
Despite York having the majority of the possession, Wakefield took an early lead.
York worked tirelessly in an attempt to get back into the game. Player of the match Lauren Boddison made some crucial tackles to thwart Wakefield’s forwards.
At the other end of the pitch, Ali Butler put in some great crosses across the face of the goal, but the forwards were unable to deflect the ball goalwards.
A controversial decision at a short corner saw York denied a goalscoring opportunity.
Unbeaten City of York II were held 1-1 at Tadcaster Magnets I in Yorkshire League division one.
There was some solid defence from York’s Jacqui Birch and her side broke the deadlock in an even game.
Fiona Gemmell won a penalty flick and Vicky Skilton neatly put the ball into the bottom left-hand corner of the goal.
However, the hosts caught York napping with a quick breakaway goal.
