The 37th York National Book Fair held at York Racecourse last month was a record success, making it the world’s second largest book fair this year.
A record number of more than 200 dealers from the UK and overseas, all members of the Provincial Booksellers’ Fairs Association, took more than £500,000 for the third year in a row – excluding additional sales of items from the website before the fair.
An extra ten per cent of revenue came through the website. Private buyers contributed £141,000 (almost identical to last year). A much higher number of young visitors attended the fair.
