The most important factor in commissioning any photographer is the enduring quality and class of the images.

These are the heirlooms that remain with the married couple for their entire lives and are passed down from generation to generation.

This is precisely what Rhonda and Mike from Mik2Photography are about and have consistently and successfully brought to bear at many major Yorkshire venues come rain, shine, power cuts, snow, hail and the metaphoric brimstone.

You will have heard the phrase ‘awardwinning photographers’ thrown about by a lot of photographers without qualification, but Mik2 have consistently produced the goods year on year to win national and regional awards from the two main photographic professions, the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP) and the Master Photographer’s Association (MPA).

The photography on the day should be an enjoyable experience and the flow of the wedding must continue for all concerned. You will frequently hear Mik2 remind the couples that they operate on the basis that it’s a wedding, not a photo shoot and they have the experience to deliver this every single time.

The strange name came out of a moment of madness about six years ago when digital photography became a serious proposition and one of the standard questions asked by brides and grooms was still ‘do you use digital or film’?

At the time, the business name was the ‘un-snappy’ Mike Huggon Photography, so the advent of digital brought a serious foreshortening of the name to a contemporary Mik2.

Mik2Photography is a husband and wife team specialising in wedding photography and operating on a UK basis. Between them, Mike and Rhonda have more than 30 years experience in wedding photography. No one has seen it all, they say, but their experience has been invaluable in dealing calmly with a full range of wedding day trials, tribulations, crises and issues.

They are available to lend a hand throughout your big day and Mike often puts the buttonholes on the nervous grooms and attendants and Rhonda is handy when it comes to lacing up bridesmaids’ and wedding dresses, taking the pressure off the wedding party in the moments of stress.

“You only get married once so having experienced professionals around who are involved in weddings week in week out helps make the day run as smoothly as possible,” they say.

“Every wedding is different and Mik2Photography is tailored to suit the requirements of the couple. There is no formula to the Mik2 approach and styles range from formal through to relaxed.”

Mike is also an experienced architectural photographer and uses this to incorporate the venue, rather than just the people, to capture all elements of the day and put the venue in context.

Due to being in such demand, Mik2 have increased their personnel to five and have recently started to offer a completely different approach to video in weddings.
