TRANSATLANTIC ties have been forged between a York museum and one in America.
Fairfax House, in Castlegate, has given a year’s internship to a student from one of the world’s leading museums of American antiquities, Winterhur Museum, in Delaware.
Louisa Brouwer, 25, will trawl through hundreds of documents relating to the Fairfax family to try to get an insight into life in Georgian York.
The director of Fairfax House, Hannah Phillip, said: “We will be able to use her skills while giving Louisa a great opportunity which will hopefully take Fairfax House to a completely new level.”
