A CHARITY cycle ride taking place around the new 146 mile Yorkshire Wolds route has raised £8,000 for disabled children and their families.

The two-day Vion Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Challenge, organised by Scoot Cycling Holidays, was completed by 65 riders who braved one of the wettest weekends this year to complete the challenging route, to raise the money for Ryedale Special Families, an independent charity based in Malton.

The event was supported by Visit Hull and East Yorkshire, Dawes cycles and Ryedale District Council, with Wold Top Brewery, Wold Newton providing prizes and a bar.
