The Diary never misses a chance to poke fun - even if it is at colleagues at The Press.
So will the real Geoff Henman please stand up?
On Thursday, The Press told you all about the forthcoming - but really late - beer festival being run by the Campaign For Real Ale (CAMRA) at the Priory Street Centre, in York, from November 9 to 11. It should have been held in March, but renovations at the centre meant it was delayed.
With that story we published a picture of festival organiser Geoff Henman.
He likes a pint of real ale, has a beard and holds a glass of beer. Fellow CAMRA member Don Henson has a beard, likes a beer and usually holds a glass in photos. Geoff is balding while Don is more hirsute.
But my colleagues got it wrong. They used a picture of Don instead of Geoff.
"It has been really embarrassing," complained the real Geoff.
"I look a lot older than Don so I don't think he was very pleased."
Sorry, boys. The next round is on our silly sub-editor who cocked up.
Hopefully, it will all blur in the alcoholic mists of time as devotees slurp away at a choice of 90 different beers, including bitters, milds, porters, stouts, wheat beers and real lagers, at the November ale fest.
MORE than 500 people turned up to watch a free outdoor screening of Hollywood classic Singin' In The Rain, projected on to a giant screen on York Minster scaffolding.
What a pity, thought Diary devotee, Chris Wood. "There's a building in York that would have been much, much better for projecting films on to," communicated Chris. "It's huge, it's flat, it's central, easy to get to and there's even a large car park next to it for people who want to watch. It's called the Odeon'!
ANOTHER Diary reader, Mrs M Burton writes: "I have lived in Kilburn Road, Fulford, for over 40 years and recently I returned to my house and walked into my garden. Sitting upon my patio were two peahens. I have never seen these before and wondered if anyone could tell me where they live when they are not visiting my house."
Answers on a postcard, please...
