I WOULD like to commend your paper on its excellent Change It! campaign calling for child abductors to go on the Sex Offenders' Register.
It is unbelievable that this legal loophole exists in the first place, and it is one that should be plugged as soon as possible (Blair: stand by - I'll make announcement on Change It! Campaign in the autumn, vows PM, The Press, September 5).
The laws of this land should protect our children and ensure that those who not only abduct, but also attempt to abduct, should be banned from working with children.
Tony Blair knows the strength of local people's feelings regarding this following his recent visit to York and I hope he keeps his word about reviewing the law.
I strongly urge him to bring this to the attention of Home Secretary John Reid as an urgent priority.
As a father himself, Tony Blair should know that child abduction is every family's worst nightmare and his Government needs to act instantly.
