CUB scouts in the York District held their It’s A Knockout event at the Snowball Plantation in Stockton-on-the-Forest.
About 150 cubs, aged eight to ten, attended from all over the York area to take part in a competition involving 12 activities, including fishing, water slides, mega slides and an activity to find the right key to open locks.
Deputy chief commissioner for Scouting In England, Mark Tarry, was the special guest at the event, which was created in memory of Steve Robinson, a cub scout leader of many years who died last year.
Mr Robinson’s daughter, assistant cub leader Susie Robinson, awarded the trophy to the winning team, Bishopthorpe cubs.
The event is part of the national Big Adventure initiative, which intends to get more adult volunteers involved with the scouting movement.
Kath Hollings, of Copmanthorpe Scouting Group, said it was only the second year the vent had been held, and they hoped it would continue to grow.
She said: “It was a successful day. It’s bigger than last year and hopefully next year will be bigger and better.”
