THE gruelling national Three Peaks challenge is to be attempted by three members of staff from York Hospital who want to raise money for elderly care.

Hospital trust chairman Alan Rose, biomedical scientist Graeme Shaw and staff governor Martin Skelton, warmed up on Sunday by completing the Yorkshire three peaks challenge of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough before their major trek later this month.

The national challenge will see the team attempting to climb the summits of Ben Nevis Scafell Pike and Snowdonia, within 24 hours.
