I SUPPORT Matthew Laverack, architect (Letters, July 14) on this issue of the Labour-supported 50 per cent affordable housing policy in York.
I think that Labour’s 50 per cent affordable housing policy is catastrophic and a monumental failure in York and is the real reason York’s house building is in serious decline and has come to a virtual standstill.
This policy is unrealistic and is in place in York without anyone proving it is viable.
Labour’s 50 per cent affordable policy needs reducing to a workable level of 15 per cent, so York’s builders can kick-start York’s house building and bring new jobs.
Why are York’s house-builders being singled out and discriminated against by York’s Labour-led council with this 50 per cent affordable housing policy?
