PLANS to create nine flats at a former charity shop in the centre of York have been revealed.
Part of the Piccadilly site formerly occupied by the British Heart Foundation’s furniture and electrical store is to be turned into a Tesco outlet.
A planning application to turn the first floor and part of the building’s ground floor into flats has been submitted to City of York Council, with a decision expected later this month.
A planning statement by the applicant’s agents, O’Neill Associates, said the flats development would be a “logical” move for the site where Tesco aims to open its second city centre store.
Eight of the flats would be on the upper floor of the building. Tesco said, if the new store is approved, it will employ between 16 and 20 people.
