ALL-CONQUERING RI Amateurs emphasised their superiority in division one of the York Amateur Bowling Association League with a 7-1 triumph over rivals Selby.

The win stretched unbeaten RI’s lead to 16 points and they now look like certainties for the title.

They also beat Selby in the County Marshall Shield, although an extra end was required.

Stewart stayed top of division two despite a 6-2 defeat at home to West Park. Burnholme missed the chance to play catch-up as they lost 7-1 at Poppleton.

Copmanthorpe, along with RI Amateurs the only side to boast an unbeaten record, are still in pole position in division three.

Meanwhile, there were few surprises in the Williamson Cup.

Stewart beat Harrogate 91-61 to book a quarter-final clash with Selby, who edged past division three side Minster 73-66.

Haxby Road, joint favourites for the Freedom and Fellowship Cup, were toppled 98-61 at home by Osbaldwick. Holgate are the only division one survivors in the last eight.
