DAVID Holliday (Letters, June 23) offers another point of view regarding the children’s heart unit at the Leeds General Infirmary.

However, I think the last paragraph is an insult to the 500,000 people who signed the petition, The Press which brought this issue to local notice and the groups which have lobbied local MPs to get the matter debated in Parliament.

What we have is the voice of the people and that should not be swept aside without consideration or consultation, regardless of letting so-called experts decide the outcome.

I do believe we live in a democratic country and everybody’s views should be taken into account, no matter what the issue.
