I AGREE with Mrs Goodrick’s letter about winning both the world wars (Letters, June 20).

We were the amateurs with our Mickey Mouse armies, but defeated their professional opponents who had been preparing for years. We had the brains and guile to win by hoodwinking them.

Therefore with pride we can put on events like the Queen’s birthday celebrations, Trooping the Colour and the recent royal wedding. I well up with pride and think nobody does it like us British. Long may it continue.
