AS ONE with a foot in both camps – Sussex and York – I think Sue Nelson’s rant is badly researched and conforms to the stereotype of dull-witted northerners (The Press, June 27).

The south-east provides most of the tax revenue exploited by Wales, the north east and parts of the north west – such as Liverpool.

The reward of the south easterners is crumbling roads, overcrowding, declining schools and a horrendous public transport system.

Oop North is truly lovely, both in places and people. I have a home in York for that reason. Please don’t denigrate those less fortunate who are paying for your good luck.
