CARETAKER youth coach Neil Richardson has admitted he would be interested in the job on a full-time basis.

The former Mansfield Town and Boston United coach has been filling the role while Ian Kerr has been recuperating from heart problems.

But Kerr has now handed in his resignation due to health reasons and the club are keen to provide some form of continuity when appointing a replacement.

Centre-back Richardson, who is now 38, was given his Football League debut as a defender at Rotherham by City boss Billy McEwan but retired from playing six years ago.

About the chance to further his coaching career at KitKat Crecsent, he said: "The job is a fantastic one and I would be interested in it because I like the kids and the staff here but it's a horrible situation and very hard because Ian has worked so hard here."

Richardson will be hoping the juniors can pay the best possible tribute to his predecessor's work with a good performance against Bradford City this morning at Wigginton Road.

City are expected to select the same side that opened the season with a 3-2 victory over Hartlepool with firstyear professional Alex Rhodes eligible to play and centre-back Ben Thornton having recovered from a minor knock.

The Football League Youth Alliance match will kick off at 11am and spectators are welcome.

City's Centre of Excellence sides kick off their seasons tomorrow with the under 12s, U14s and U16s all hosting Scarborough at Wigginton Road, kick-offs 11am.

The under U13s and U15s will travel to Scarborough and spectators are again welcome at both venues.
