I WRITE to pay tribute to The Press and, in particular Tim Addyman and his team, for their efforts in the fight to save York's Odeon cinema from closure.
I was part of the large audience in the magnificent Screen One on the Odeon's last night, and must agree with previous correspondents that I wish attendances had been as good as this in recent years. I see Odeon bosses are "sorry" that their York branch has now closed, according to a message on their website. I can only hope that some real film fanatics breathe much-needed life into this wonderful building soon.
Cinema in York will not quite be the same again.
