ACOMB have been crowned John Smith's York Men's Darts League division one champions.

The season ended in anti-climax as their final opponents, Crescent, conceded.

Volunteer were runners-up thanks to Paul Dixon (17 and 113 finish for 21) who played well in their 10-1 win over Slipper, whose Pete Turnbull included 180.

Flag's Paul Calpin (19) couldn't prevent his team going down 7-4 to Rose and Crown as Graham Wilkinson (180 for 19), Brian Harden (19), Mark Addinall (106 finish) and Mark Neale (20) played well.

Shepherds best performers in their 8-3 victory over Britannia were Andy Dolan (17) and Mick Wilsden (20).

Cygnet A' players Dave Mason (17), Craig Wedge (180) and John Mooring (20) ensured they completed the season with a 9-2 win over Dringhouses.

Crescent competed their division two championship-winning season with a 7-4 win over second placed Fulfordgate.

Crescent's John Dykes (21) partnered Mal Muncaster to the all important decider and Fulfordgate's Pete Edwards (106 finish for 15) was unlucky to be on the losing side.

The league's presentation night will be held at Holgate WMC tonight (7.30pm).

Acomb will play Crescent in the Champion of Champions competition.

Competing for the individuals title are: Paul Botterill (Volunteer), Mick Wilsden (Shepherds), John Mooring (Cygnet) and Tony Cooper (Sun).

The last four in the pairs are Cygnet's Dave Mason & Neil Caywood, Dave Gibbons & John Mooring, and Acomb's Jonny O'Mara & Keith Outerson and Keith Turner & Lee Brundrett. Also being played is the Captain's Cup.
