Drivers in Yorkshire and the Humber are being advised by the Highways Agency to allow extra time when travelling on five major routes on 31 August as the national Tour of Britain cycle race comes to the region.
From 11am, police will close several roads in north and west Yorkshire for around 15 minutes to allow competing cyclists to pass through local roads. Major routes affected are:
1. A1/A58 Wetherby Grange junction, West Yorkshire: short-term closures of north bound exit slip road. Delays expected between 11am and 11.30am.
2. A1/A659 Boston Spa Interchange, West Yorkshire: short-term closures of north and south bound exit slip roads. Delays expected between 11.15am and 11.45am.
3. A64/A162 Interchange, North Yorkshire: short-term closures of entry and exit slip roads. Delays expected between 11.45am and 12.15pm.
4. From A63/A162 to A63 Monk Fryston, North Yorkshire: short-term closure of trunk road. Delays expected between 12pm and 12.30pm.
5. A1(M) Darrington, North Yorkshire: short-term closures of north bound exit and entry slip roads. Delays expected from around 12.30pm to 1pm.
All timings are approximate and will depend on the progress of the race on the day.
