HAS the Highway Code and the traffic order for York been changed recently?
The reason I ask, firstly, is that disabled drivers have started to park in the section of Petergate between Bootham Bar and the Dean Court Hotel after 11am.
Has Petergate suddenly become an extra place to park for badge holders?
Secondly, as a bollard is placed under Bootham Bar at 11am to herald the start of pedestrianisation, has the Highway Code been amended to allow the disabled drivers to reverse down a one-way street towards oncoming pedestrians to get parked?
Disabled drivers have a privilege to park around the city, not a divine right.
Come the revolution, able-bodied drivers might get the same privilege.
