WE are concerned about Arriva’s decision to cancel the 415/416 Selby to York service into Escrick and therefore not use the bus stop situated on Main Street.
This stop has been in the village for many years and most of the village is situated off the A19.
Since April 17, this service only goes along the A19 and the bus stop available for residents is outside the church. Residents now have to cross the busy A19 to board the bus going north to York and as many of the residents in Escrick are elderly this is causing them great distress.
We wondered if Arriva could look at the situation in Escrick and return the service into the village.
This service goes into two villages on this route, Barlby and Riccall, and there have been no changes in these villages. We feel Escrick has been signalled out and penalised.
Various residents have said they will no longer use the service for fear of crossing the A19.
Mrs Vicky Cumberland Clerk to Escrick Parish Council, Escrick, York.
