THE MOST popular pet in York, North and East Yorkshire could win its owner £100 of vouchers for BATA.

The Malton-based animal feed business, which has 11 country stores in North and East Yorkshire, is sponsoring The Press’s Pet Icon competition.

Pet Icon aims to find the region’s most adorable animals, which will be featured in a supplement and then voted on by the public.

BATA was established as a farmers’ co-operative in 1894 and provides animal feeds, pet foods, equine, agricultural and fuel and energy products.

Neil Curtis, its country store development manager, said they were delighted to be able to reward the cutest companion.

“Pet foods are a big side of our business and a growing area. We do a lot of feeds and accessories as well as dog clinic days where people bring their pets along and get advice on feeding them and worming them.

“Everybody has a pet and all our branded feeds are from major suppliers. Our people are trained to recommend the best feed for puppies right through to senior dogs, or any other pet.” Neil said.

The winner will also receive a photo-shoot package, including a one-hour shoot, a disc of 25 high resolution images and a 16in by 12in canvas of their favourite photo from Life Photography, Pickering, worth £450.

To enter, send us photographs of your beloved pet and they will then be featured in a supplement of entries, to be published in The Press on May 21. Readers will then be asked to vote for their favourite pet.

Send your photographs of any pet, from dogs, cats, rabbits and chinchillas to horses, by text to 80360.

Start the message YOPET, leave a space and then write your pet’s name, and your name and contact details.
