Peter Littlewood, Noel Cammidge and Barry Walker won the Eric Hopwood triples bowls competition for the sixth time in the last ten years when they beat Tony Moore, Bob Elliot and Dave Kermode.
Having lost to Littlewood’s team in the group stage, Moore’s men got off to a good start leading 5-2 after four ends but four ends later the tables had turned. Littlewood’s team went 12-6 up and didn’t look back to win 19-9.
In the ladies Simpson pairs, Helen Wood and Dot Kennelly led 4-3 after seven ends but Melanie Brooke and Hayley MacDonald started a run which yielded 14 shots over the next eight ends before Wood and Kennelly conceded with three ends to play.
The mixed pairs was closely fought to the tenth end when the score stood at 11-10 to Mark Clarke and Helen Walker against Graham and Melanie Brooke. But a run of seven winning ends meant Clarke and Walker retained the title.
