WHY can’t the Tories put our money where their mouths are? As they seem very confident that the private sector will “take up the slack” from the public sector cuts.
If this is the case, public sector redundancies should not be required as the Government initiatives involving the private sector would surely attract public sector employees to these more lucrative private positions.
Oh dear, what’s that? The Tories must force the pace of redundancy for their own ideological reasons.
Well, they are playing fast and loose with taxpayers’ dosh as the early retirements and redundancy payouts are costing the Treasury dearly.
Then there are the thousands of councillors, MPs, Lords and Ladies, all public sector employees yet numerically over-flowing in that great tub of taxpayers’ benevolence.
Never mind, create a smokescreen and throw in some sound-bites blaming Labour’s profligacy, daily interest on the deficit, blah, blah.
Naughty Tories wasting taxpayers’ cash when according to their mantra the private sector should do the job without any cuts at all.
The Lib Dems ought to run from such nastiness, dump Nick Clegg and support that nice Mr Miliband instead? Oh and that nice Mr Salmond too.
