I WRITE in reply to Margaret James’s thoughts on Clifford’s Tower mound (Letters, April 19).
Some months ago I wrote to English Heritage and the reply I received was based along the lines of there’s not a lot we can do about it as the council won’t allow us to erect a fence.
However we have asked staff to be more vigilant and to ask offenders to refrain from climbing the walls.
It’s a real bug-bear for me as I believe if English Heritage wants to look after our heritage, then it should look at better ways to preserve it.
Graham Watson, Buller Street, Selby.
