ANOTHER reason why decisions on the nation’s finances should be subject to more scrutiny and checks, than left to a bunch of maverick people.
Last month, Britain’s national debt passed the trillion mark, as it continues to rise by £7,000 a second. This sum is equivalent to more than £40,000 per household.
Every man, woman and child will be paying for decades if we don’t make huge spending cuts now.
No longer can we rely on a motley crew of ministers who spend three years at university studying politics and law to manage the economy.
Examples from recent cabinets are: politics – Gordon Brown – says it all! Liam Byrne – Mr ‘no money left’. Jacqui Smith – Hmm! And the Miliband brothers. Law: Tony Blair and at least ten other cabinet ministers including Straw, Hoon and Darling.
Just what is it about lawyers that make them think they are equipped to run the country better than anyone else? Amazing!
