BBC Radio York’s phone-in programme last Friday from 9am to noon discussed the selling of tickets on the internet for Elton John’s performance to take place in the Open Air Theatre at Scarborough later this year.

The point being made that the tickets were being resold at ten times the original prices of £55 to £75. Opinions were asked for.

During the three hours, Elton John’s name seemed to have been repeated up to 50 times. That gentleman must have been very pleased with the free publicity given to his name and intended performance. Was it really necessary to bombard the listeners in such a way?

It should be noted that the tickets were all sold out by the official site on the first day were available.
