A FAULTLESS fourth round earned York golf ace Simon Dyson a top ten finish at the Maybank Malaysian Open.

The 33-year-old fired four birdies in a closing 68 to finish seventh on ten-under par at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, six shots behind winner Matteo Manassero.

Dyson, who carded a magnificent second-round 64 on Friday, collected 51,925 euros for his performance in the Far East.

The 33-year-old’s final round got off to a superb start, with a birdie at the par-four first. He also picked up shots at three par fives, the third, fifth and 18th.

Earlier in the day, he had to complete the back nine of his third round after three hours were lost to rain on Saturday.

The split round upset Dyson’s rhythm as two bogeys and seven pars on the front nine were followed the next day by a birdie at the tenth, three successive bogeys and a run of five pars.
