A GROUP that campaigns for better education funding for the 30 poorest funded local authorities in England, including York, North and East Yorkshire, has welcomed fresh Government consultation.

Leading members of f40 were responding to a Government announcement that it will initially consult on the “rationale and principles” for reforming school funding in England.

Ivan Ould, f40 chairman, said: "Like the Government, f40 wants a funding system that will distribute funds in a fair and logical way and distribute extra resources towards those pupils who need them equally.

“We want that system to be transparent and easy to understand and explain.”

As a special interest group, f40 will be actively contributing to the consultation.
