Looking for a smart, modern, light and airy family home at a decent price? Barratt’s new Axis development is worth a visit, says Brian Page.

A little while ago, we gave you advance notice of an intriguing new Barratt development at Market Weighton.

We didn’t have much in the way of detail at the time but saw enough to give us an inkling of the promise in store.

Well, now we’ve seen more – and that promise has been more than realised.

Barratt’s Axis development in the town has now officially launched and has thrown open the doors of a very impressive show home in the process.

The show home was at the centre of a VIP launch last weekend – and the signs are that the viewing public liked what they saw. Two of the seven homes available in the first stage of the development were quickly snapped up. It’s not hard to see why, to be honest.

The show home is an Ascot style, a super-looking family home with an awful lot to offer (as you can see from our pictures).

There are quite a few highlights here, but we were taken with the amount of space and style on view, with a series of light, airy and spacious rooms. The lounge is a good size and there is a splendid dining room with doors opening onto a conservatory, which in turn opens onto a smart rear garden. The breakfast kitchen is a gem with plenty of room to make it the hub of family life (and it would be great for entertaining friends and relatives).

There is an added bonus in the fact that a fifth bedroom would quite easily convert into a study/den (or dad’s get-away-from-it-all room!) Of the other four bedrooms, two have luxurious en-suite bathrooms and three is a modern and beautifully fitted family bathroom.

And now here’s another bonus. Prices for the Ascot (a five-bed, beautifully designed home, remember) begin at £259,995.

There are some top-value properties available in other house styles, too, with the “Derwent”, a three-bed detached house having been priced from £174,995 and then the “Ashbourne”, a splendid three-bed home with an open-plan living/dining area with French doors to the rear garden and a smart, modern kitchen, selling at prices starting at £162,995.

Not bad when you consider Market Weighton is a popular market town with lots of amenities and is close to good commuting routes to Hull, the M62 and York.

To further whet your appetite, Barratt is also offering part-exchange deals to help speed along the moving-in process.

A spokeswoman said: “We are really excited to unveil the new show home and expect that buyers will be delighted with the house types and the sales schemes on offer at this fabulous new development. The superbly designed Ascot property is sure to be a great success and we look forward to giving more buyers a tour.”

We’ll just settle for suggesting that if you are in market for a smashing family home at a decent price then Axis is worth a look.
